Great First Day for New Year 6 2014-2015

It was a busy and fun packed transfer day for the new Year 6 cohort 2014-2014 and they made a fantastic start.

The day began with a starter task which gave the children the opportunity of showing off their artistic skills, by drawing what they think their Year 6 teachers might look like after teaching them for a year. Take a look at some of the results-very frightening!

After a getting to know you session, they were introduced to the work of a terrific modern painter and glass sculptor Dale Chihuly who will be the inspiration for some our science and art work through the year. Take a look at some of his work.

The children used filter paper, watercolour paints, spray starch, glitter and glue to create colourful flower heads which will be combined together to create wild and wonderful flower display outside the Year 6 area. Further projects including 3D sculpture are planned for next year so keep your eyes peeled. Take a look at the flowers in progress.

Well done new Year 6-all your Year 6 teachers and helpers were very impressed.
