GREEN SPRING EXHIBITION

We hope you enjoyed our Green Spring Exhibition this week. The whole school really enjoyed this topic and we have learnt lots about recycling. Have a look at some of our work:

Year R have made their own plant pots and grown plants. They made pebble mini-beasts to decorate the pots.

Year R also enjoyed making 'Mr Greenheads' to grow grass for their hair.

Year 1 created a mini-beast walk way. We used papier mache to make the mini-beasts and painted and decorated them with paint and pipecleaners.

Year 1 went on a walk around Lordswood and noticed lots of litter on the floor. We felt sad about this and decided to make posters to enourage people not to drop litter.

Year 1 also decided to make monster litter bins to remind us not to drop litter on the floor.

Year 2 created willow sculptures. They soaked the willow in water and then bent and fixed them to create animals and plants.

Year 2 also made their own paper bags to reduce the amount of plastic ones that they use. This is much better for the environment. They made their own logos and wrote messages on the front.

Year 2 recycled lots of rubbish to create life size sculptures of animals. We re-used old plastic forks for the sharp teeth!

Here is our lion. Can you see the old rubber gloves that we used for the lion's mane.

Year 2 were in charge of the exhibition. Here are just some of the things they needed to do:

1.) They had to ask permission from Mrs Knight to use the small hall.
2.) They also had to ask the kitchen staff if they could have their lunch in the main hall so that the exhibition could be set up.
3.) They asked each year group what they needed to display their work.
4.) They wrote letters to invite guests to see the exhibition.
5.) Some children showed the adults their work and explained what they did.
6.) Some children went to Cedar school to exhibit our fantastic work.

Well done Year 2 and well done to the rest of the school for all your hard work and commitment to looking after the environment!
